“Music was always a big part of my life and a part of my identity. The lyrics and the way the music has moved me, is who I am today” remarks DJ Cheriana. Despite having lived in several countries during her career, now bases herself in Dubai in the UAE. Born to a Jamaican mother, whose family exposed her to Reggae, Ska, Funk, Soul, Disco and Hip Hop from the time she was born, Cheriana liked the way music could change people. She has focused on the DJ scene in UAE for the past eight years. Winning Alhan Magazine’s Awards for Best Bar and Best Ladies Night 2011 were highlights of her residency at Stills on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, as well as being shortlisted for Best Ladies Night at JBR Hilton’s Pure Sky Lounge in 2014, with Time-out Dubai and Hype Magazine. DJ CHERIANA believes that all the different artistic ways she has expressed herself allow her to bring something unique. Her vast experience and in-depth knowledge of music is heard in her sets, where she is at home playing Chill-Out Lounge, Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul, Retro, Latin, Reggae, Dancehall and Deep House.
